I am currently working as a broadcast engineer for a financial TV station in London. I am part of a team of engineers that work on new projects, faults and maintenance. I specialize in the I.T and control system elements. But due to the nature of the work I deal with all areas (studio’s, playout, intake, distribution ect…) I previously worked for control system manufacture AMX as a project service engineer programming Netlinx systems in the corporate and residential markets. I still work on AMX system as they are a large part of the control network at Bloomberg. Current projects include remote studio control, transmission monitoring and tally control systems.
When developing new software I find the most challenging and interesting part of development process to be the user interaction. Getting the software working is the bread and butter of developing (the software has to work) but making it usable and intuitive is challenging.
I am a big techie geek and like to keep up with all the tech news. This site is more a journal for what I do and find but if anyone finds anything interesting or useful I would be happy :)
My spare time is split between my geeky life where I like to enjoy playing wow and I am battling at learning objective-C with a view of developing some OSX application. In my ‘real life’ I enjoy photography, kiting, scuba diving and skiing. I have recently taken up playing the acoustic guitar in A attempt to unlock my artistic side… It might take some time.
